TED founder Richard Wurman on why we need a Minister of Understanding*

"Each country instead of having a cabinet, or the secretary of education, or the minister of war, or something like that, each country should have a secretary or a minister of understanding. Not a propaganda person who is a press secretary but a minister or a secretary of understanding that actually makes an issue understandable so that any person in the public can explain it to a literate twelve-year-old. They actually make public information - public, available, understandable and free. None of those things are done anywhere in the world".
