What do Steve Jobs and Elon Musk have in common? 
Daniel Kottke, who traveled to India with Jobs, was his college friend and one of the first employees of Apple, shares his view on the success of Steve Jobs and Apple and what two brilliant entrepreneurs might have in common:  
Many people compare Steve Jobs with Elon Musk, including Steve Wozniak. What do you think they have in common?
I've never met Elon so I don't know him. He was fantastically lucky in the sense that PayPal was a rocket ship to success. And same with that Steve Jobs. He has a lot of good qualities - he was very ambitious and he was hardworking but you can't just make success happen. Many factors have to line up. So the success of the Apple 2 was bigger than Steve Wozniak or Steve Jobs, it was at the right time in the right place and they found the right customers. Steve did have a reputation for being brutal with people. He also had a lot of enthusiasm for people that he thought were smart. He was kind of a love-hate. He would be hot or cold if it's not a good day you wanted to stay away from him.
